Standby Generator Installation Process in Abbotsford
24/7 line. Leave your number and we call you back, usually within a minute.
From First Call to a Running Generator

Most installs take one to two days on site. From your first call to a running system is usually a few weeks, and most of that is permits and equipment, not work on your property.
- 1
Call or book the free site visit
We look at the meter, the panel and the lot, and ask what you need running when the power drops.
- 2
Load calculation and sizing
We add up the real loads, including the start-up surge from the furnace blower, heat pump and well pump, so the generator is sized for the worst second, not the average one.
- 3
One fixed written quote
Generator, transfer switch, pad, gas and electrical connections, permits and commissioning, in writing.
- 4
Permits and pad
We book the electrical and gas permits through Technical Safety BC, handle any municipal requirements, then set the pad.
- 5
Install and connect
Generator set, automatic transfer switch wired, gas line run and leak-tested, essential circuits labelled. Usually one to two days on site.
- 6
Commissioning test and inspection
We simulate an outage to prove the transfer, run it under load, walk you through it, and the inspector signs off.

Who Signs Off on Your Generator

Standby generator work needs an electrical permit and, for natural gas or propane, a gas permit through Technical Safety BC. Our project manager books both, coordinates FortisBC if the meter needs upsizing, and is on site for the inspections. You do not deal with any of it.
The live outage test
Before we leave we switch off the main breaker and watch the house transfer to the generator, usually within 15 to 30 seconds. Then we set the weekly self-test to a quiet weekday afternoon.
